Production of the Nissan Frontier began in 1997 with the goal of replacing the Nissan Hardbody truck, as that model was becoming less popular. The Crew Cab was introduced for 2000, further expanding this pickup’s appeal. For 2007, the Crew Cab Long Bed trim was added, giving you the option of getting a Crew Cab and a 6-foot-long truck bed. The 2009 version of the Frontier got a bolder grille, new exterior colors, and a new headlight design. This was also the year the Pro-4X off-road package was introduced while King Cabs got heated side mirrors and front seats. A Sport Appearance Package was added for the 2012 model year and all models got standard electronic stability control and 2-wheel Brake Limited Slip system.
